AICE Media Studies

Recently, my group and I have decided between two songs to make a music video to. Last time we saw each other, we decided on the song that we were going to be using for this project. Pitch 1: The Night Begins To Shine- B.E.R  This is a 80s' style rock song with a catchy tune which is sure to get anyone listening in to the beat and lyrics. The lyrics tell a story of love and possibly even heartbreak, which allows listeners to relate to it and enjoy the song further. The song is good for the music video as it tells a story to its listeners, which allows the music video making process smoother than it normally would. The song gained traction through a popular children's show, Teen Titans Go. This was one of the reasons my group and I chose this song, as we have seen the show and enjoyed it. We also loved the song and how it flowed, the beats, the rhythm, and the lyrics all work well together, making the song pleasant to listen to. The production of a music video to this song would...

 Soon, my group and I will be starting to do our music video; the filming, acting, props, editing, and sounds. I am looking forward to this project, not just because it seems like a fun assignment, but because of the people that I will be completing this project with. Most of my group is other 10th graders, Ben and Cannon, but there is one senior, and his name is Carson. To start, there's many reasons I am working with Carson, one of them being the fact that he is one of my friends older brother and my friend. This is my first class with Carson, and seeing how he pays attention, is respectful, is smarter than me and has much more experience in basically everything, he is a great addition to the group. I can't wait to see what ideas Carson brings, and can't wait to put this music video together with him.  So far my experience in AICE Media Studies has been a great one. I have learned so much stuff in just one project and have learned much about myself, my peers, and filming. Filming the commercial was a lot of fun, but it was also challenging at some points. I also liked to edit the commercial, since I got to play with sounds, clips, and more. I hope that the music video is a similar process to the commercial, as the commercial was pretty fun to film and work together with my group mates. I cant wait to see what challenges are going to come from filming this music video and what the outcome of it will be. I hope that the final outcome of the music video will be better than the outcome of the commercial. Even though the commercial was not that bad, I hope that my group and I can learn from our past mistakes and make the music video the best it can be.   Creative Critical Reflection   How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?   T he product which I used, Powerade, followed most of the traditional conventions of its past commercials, but also made sure to challenge some of them. The norm for the conventions for a sports drink commercial like P owerade would be fast jump cuts, inspirational music, quick paced movements, and sweating. While my group and I’s commercial does follow most  of the conventions, it also challenges some and goes against the grain of normal conventions of a sports drink commercial . The commercial did not include inspirational music, instead it used pop music from popular artist Bon Jovi ; it also did not put emphasis on the color of the Powerade drink like other commerc ials do .   My commercial did use jump cuts, an d sweating, and showed athletic movements, which did follow th e norm for the conventions , making...
