Production Blogs Editing Two FT
As editing continued, the process that went easier and results came. When we all came together, we found that we were able to have more fun editing and get things done quicker. This would have been the preferred way to edit from the start if our schedules didn't interfere. Anyway, we capitalized on the moment we did have and decided to tackle the harder aspects. These harder aspects consisted of the color grading, making everything fit the wanted aesthetic, and playing around with the lighting. To go over the color grading part of the editing, it was a little bit harder than first expected. For one, each scene had different lightings since we did not use professional lighting gear for the movie, instead relying on surroundings. This meant there would have to be adjustments depending on each clip, in order for them to properly fit the vibe we were shooting for. To do this, and to get the darker vibe we were looking for, brighter scenes would have their exposure turned down, along with the saturation and highlights. Other scenes would have similar changes to them, being adjusted along the way, seeing what would work. I then did actual color grading, heightening the strength of certain colors in scenes and making them pop. Like in the gas station scene, I made sure to keep an overall cool tone as the scene was meant to hold a high level of suspense. After adjusting all of the basic visual elements of the clips, my group and I had another idea. We were going to look for a filter that we could overlay onto the entire project, which would give the looks a final touch and make them feel better. We then had to add in all of the proper music. In order to do this, I had to search the internet for copywrite free music and then had to download and import that music into CapCut. It took a little bit to figure out which music would fit best with the scenes, and there was a lot of testing. Another hard part was finding out what type of music to use for the diegetic sound, as we wanted to use a popular song, but ultimately could not, as it was not copywrite and would take too long for approval. Eventually, we got all of the music sorted out and the editing process came to a close. With that, the projects editing had finally come to a close, and with that so had the production process; my group was very happy and could not wait to show our peers!
