Production Blog Writing the Script FT
Writing the script was a fun process during production. While there is another blog titled “Script”, this blog stated the script that was going to be used. It did not explain the process or factors that went into making it. To make the script, my group and I decided it would be best if we all met up together. We all got together, went to the gym, got food, and then went to Dylan's house. Here we went over the basic plot that we had come up with and we started brainstorming on what would sound best in the movie. The whole process took around an hour and a half since we were all gathered outside together and focused solely on the script. Dylan had some ideas, but I thought that they sounded a little bit corny, so we decided to compromise and meet in the middle of some of the dialogue. Carson and Ben also had some good insight on things we should say, so we took their ideas, and we all elaborated, making the dialogue fit best with everything. We made sure to keep the future storyboard in mind, envisioning what we would want our film to look like and how this script would fit into it. We made sure not to overcompensate with dialogue, since we knew it was going to be a suspenseful film and the idea of having too much dialogue would take away that aspect. We kept the dialogue down to a minimum while also keeping in mind the different camera angles we would use during those moments of speech. When we were writing the script, my group and I weren't sure if we needed to also include actions of characters, so we looked at our A level friends past blogs and found that actions were not part of the script. There were some parts where it was hard to agree on who should say what or what the character should be saying. To find out what would sound best, we experimented with different ideas by rehearsing them to our peers and seeing which got the best feedback. This was working until we found out that there would be disagreements between our peers as well comma, so we decided when that happened to just go with your gut and pick what felt right to us. We we decided there needed to be moments where there was dialogue between 2 characters. We made sure to include this, but we also wanted it to have a suspenseful feel, so whenever there was dialogue between 2 characters, there was a sense of tension there. After a good amount of brainstorming and working together, the script came to a finish, and we were that much closer to being done with our project. My group and I were very excited to be so close to being done and could not wait to start filming and see our project come to life!
