Production Blog Music Video Overall

Overall, this project is coming to an end, and my thoughts on it are definitely not a straight shot. The music video was slightly easier to produce compared to the commercial, for a number of reasons. For one, the commercial all took place in one setting, and while this was a benefit, it came with its cons. The commercial was filmed at the beach, so the sun was glaring into the camera and the beach was packed. Not wanting to have unwanted people in the shot, we would constantly have to wait for them to pass by so that the filming could progress. For the music video, we had a similar problem, since everywhere we went it was crowded. In the end though, the crowdedness proved to be useful for us, as it made the scenes look more authentic. The music video was also a little bit harder to film since there was so many different settings/locations that we needed to go to. All the locations were a good distance apart too, like the movie theatre, the ice cream parlor, the beach, and walking through the city. Even though more travel was needed for the music video, it was still easier to produce compared to the commercial. The commercial required much more acting, and had many reshoots due to acting and looking bad. For the music video, the reshoots still persisted, but not due to acting, due to other obstacles that we could move around. It was much easier to move away from an obstacle making the shots look bad than trying to teach the acting over and over. The music video was also  easier since the acting was on a lower level, since there was less storytelling needed since the music in the back did it for us. I had fun filming this project, and I felt that it moved smoother since I had produced another project with the same group before, which causes me to think that I will be working with this group again. There were some hiccups throughout the process of this project, like some group mates feeling unmotivated and not wanting to do the work, even when needed. This showed to not be that big of a problem since with the help of each other, we were able to lift up our friends and push them towards the finish line. My group mates and I did end up not using some of the scenes we thought we would and changed some things at the very end, which is why it may seem like the storyboard does not match up. In my past overall blog, I said I hoped to improve in this production, and I truly think that I did. I had fun working on this project with my groupmates and cannot wait to begin the next one!
